We do live in a beautiful world, don’t we? At least those of us who read this do. We have gone beyond the ‘ eat to live’ set and become ‘eat not to live’.

Consider this. We carefully chose the type of food we eat, not simply to stay alive but so that we can stay well. We go to great lengths, driving those extra miles to the organic store. Ordinary apples are not enough. They are best organic. They cost more but that is no issue. Yes.. we live as the gods do.

Ajahn Brahm told the humorous tale of a couple who ended up in heaven resplendent with all goodness and fringe benefits that only heaven can offer. After realizing the goodness that was theirs, the hubby gave the wifey a good whack on the head for delaying his entry to heaven. She had been feeding him all those health food all those years!

Really. Our body health is important but at the same time our mental health is also important, maybe more so. Looking around, we see many grim faces. Too many are on a mission to destroy themselves. Maybe we should learn to lift those emotional burdens off our shoulders.

We live too much by stomping to the beat of society and worse, our own expectations. We want too much of the chocolate pie. We create our own conditions which by and large are hardly attainable. Maybe it is not that they are unattainable but simply that we keep changing them for higher ones, just like upgrading to a better car. In the end those stomps become stomps of inner tantrums.

Maybe heaven is reachable by being just where we are. Dealing with our inner self could be the starting point of getting there.

Do you agree with me that being happy in life should not just be a goal but a life journey in itself? Well I believe that. Of course all of us aim to be happy in life but as we work towards that goal, we should enjoy the journey towards it too. Thus I feel that happiness should be a journey and not just a destination.

I came across some tips on how to be happy. Some of these tips are supposedly backed by some studies. I will share the 8 happy life tips here in simplistic point form and provide you to the source so that you can read each of these points in detail. I won’t reproduce it here otherwise I will be stealing someone else’s hard work!

8 ways to lead a happy lifestyle

1. Be optimistic about life
2. Follow your heart
3. Make enough money to meet your needs

My personal note on this is that your needs do not necessarily mean your basic food, shelter and clothing needs. It could be needs including having big luxurious homes, fancy sports cars, 5 vacations a year with the family, etc. After all, you can’t deny that money does matter in one part of the happiness equation if not all of it!

4. Be close to your family and friends
5. Stop expecting your job to make you happy
6. Have more small but special moments
7. Keep positive and healthy company and be in positive places
8. See the best in people

Very simple tips to put into use in your daily life, aren’t they? I’m sure they’re nothing new, you would have heard of them time and again. But I believe they will make a big difference because it is all about changing your mind set and habits to be consciously happy by engaging in positive and happy thoughts and actions. Just try a couple of them and see if you feel happier already!

To read in detail about each of the points above, you can refer to this site. Keep and cherish happy thoughts everyday!
