Let us get back to something real after two faked articles. Surely fresh, natural fruits cannot be fakes. They can only be bombarded with loads of pesticides and I have heard of horror stories on how they are kept in warehouses with chemicals sprayed onto them to keep them “fresh” for weeks and months until they are exported. And these horror stories again originate from one big country – China.
So what do we do when we get the fruits back to our home? Have we ever pondered on how we should eat our fruits? Is there a correct way of eating fruits? Fruits are so frequently used as “bribery food” to children. Very often you will hear an adult telling a child “Finish your food and I’ll give you an apple.” Or “don’t let him eat the orange now; he has not taken his meals.”
Fruits should be eaten on an empty stomach and not after a meal. Fruits become alkaline in our body and therefore there should be no fear of them being acidic and that they should be consumed only after a meal. Eating fruits after a meal causes flatulence. The fruit is ready to go from the stomach to the intestines and if a meal is taken before the fruit, when the fruit comes in contact with the food in the stomach and the digestive juices, the food rots and ferments thus producing gas.
Eating a fruit whole is better than drinking the juice. However, if you do drink the juice, it is recommended that you drink it slowly by the mouthful to allow it to mix with your saliva before swallowing. Never drink warmed up juices as cooking destroys all the vitamins. And never let your fruit juice sit for too long as oxidation also robs it of its vitamins.
Find and unlock the secret to beauty, longevity, good health and a better you!
Kiwi – its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange and is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E and fiber
Apple – low in vitamin C but has anti-oxidants and flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C
Strawberry – very high anti-oxidant power among major fruits. Protects the body from cancer causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals
Orange – taking 2-4 oranges a day keeps cold away, lower cholesterol, prevents and dissolves kidney stones and lessens risk of colon cancer
Watermelon – composed of 92% water, contains glutathione which helps boost our immune system. Key source of lycopene, the cancer fighting oxidant.
Guava & Papaya – top in vitamin C. Guava is very rich in fiber whilst papaya is rich in carotene
