China is renowned for anything that is not original. But eggs? These are the titles given to egss that are not laid by the hen. We have heard of fake handbags, pirated softwares, vcds and dvds, counterfeit money but have we in our wildest dream think that some ingenious person will think of producing fake eggs. This has been circulating in the netsphere for quite a while causing alarm in most people but after a while all is forgotten and life goes on with the chicken and egg.
This story goes that during a raid on a wholesale center in Guangzhou, a large quantity of eggs, wholesaling at S$0.03 each, were seized. It also took on a turn that a reporter with a Hong Kong based Chinese magazine, East Week, enrolled in 3-day course at S$150. The story with the detailed pictures look convincing but I find it hard to believe that eggs are no longer eggs. I cannot say for sure if this is a hoax or it’s for real but like many who received this widely circulated email, I have very little concern for it now.
Take a look at these articles and maybe someone can enlighten us on this issue. Are the chickens taking a break or on early retirement?
