Yushu Earthquake 14/04/2010 - A reminder to all of us to be grateful
I am sure most of you would have either read or seen the vcd “The Secret” by Rhonda Bryne. In one of the chapters, it speaks of Gratitude.
One of my favourite tag line is “The Universe is abundant, the Universe provides!
“Yeah, right – huh!” say the skeptics.
All we need to do is be open to receiving its riches. In uncertain times, many of us wonder how such beliefs can be true. They sound so positive and uplifting, yet when we look at our everyday lives, they seem unrealistic.
By expressing thanks to what we have – no matter how small – we experience more opportunities and prosperity in health, relationships and even in our careers and business. When you are thankful for something, magic happens. Because you are thankful for what you have, you find that life becomes abundant.
Rather than focusing on what you do not have, gratitude focuses on what you do have. If you do not have an attitude of gratitude, you will replace it with blame and guilt (wow! it rhymes here). This can translate into dissatisfaction with life, dis-ease in the body and poor relationships with others, creating a vicious cycle of unhappiness.
Gratitude opens our minds to receiving more in our lives. It develops out of trust in an abundant universe, in knowing that you will be provided for, as long as you are open to it. Gratitude starts with small things and grows into appreciation of greater gifts. It provides a sense that we are part of everything yet own nothing. We are only guardians to it. When we live life this way, everything we have and experience becomes a gift, a blessing on the journey of life. We feel less attached to outcomes, focusing on what we can give, rather than on what we can get. We become part of the flow of giving and receiving
