a lady i casually know remarked that the banana is the last fruit that she'll ever think of. Well, like they say you have to eat it to know it & thinking is not the same as eating it.

She may want to change her thoughts after reading this.

With the Chinese New Year round the corner, everybody knows the mandarin orange - "kum" - is a must have to bring in lots of luck & prosperity.

But do you know bananas too is an auspicious fruit?

In Malaysian Chinese homes where ancestor worship is practised, bananas are offered to the "landlord" - the deity who looks after the safety & security of the household from his post on the lower level of an altar table.

In other Southeast Asian countires, i have seen bananas offered to other gods who sit on the main altar. There's a special way to this. Currency notes are slotted in between "fingers" of the bananas. Guess why?

A store manager of one of our bigger supermarket chains was promoting bananas last New Year. What she said set me thinking. The second charactor of banana in Mandarin resonates with "bring in" or to put it in an updated version - attract. You see the banana is an attractor factor. A wealth attractor factor.

See a bunch of bananas like an open palm of your hand with all the little fingers. Slot currency notes ( the bigger the denomination the better -no?) in between these fingers and you are literally broadcasting to the Universe - money money mari, mari!

I say, double the prospertiy and stack "kum" onto the "palm" of your bananas.

Here's to your wealth health.
