Drinking Enzyme
Making drinking enzyme is now a fad but culturing drinking enzyme is still something new to many. I have friends excitedly informing me they are into making enzymes and they have just bought such a book from this bookshop teaching you how to make this drink. Like what I mentioned in my previous post, I am an advocate to anything that is natural and healthy but this supposedly drinking enzyme will in the long run pose health problems to those who consume it on a regular basis. It will weaken your liver because of the alcohol content in the drink.
What then is a healthy drinking enzyme? Firstly and most important is that it must be cultured for a minimum of at least 6 (Six) months. You can culture it longer than 6 months but nothing less than that. Mine is already 13 months and very likely it will be filtered out for consumption by the end of this year. Use raw organic honey (remember this is a health drink and I am sure we want the best from this drink so spending a little more on organic products is advisable). Do not use wild honey. Wild honey is collected by burning the hives and in the process kills thousands of bees and destroying their homes. Do not use sugar as alcohol content is very high. Do not use glass bottle as it will crack due to the build up of gas released during fermentation. During the enzyme workshop that I attended I posed the question on using plastic bottle as being unhealthy. The facilitator informed us that during fermentation process, it will produce a certain enzyme that will neutralise the bad effects of plastic.

Come to think of it, there are many who suffer from shoulder and other muscular pains. I, too, suffer from lower back and neck pain. I like to think that this was brought on by my job which required me to spend hours poring over documents and drawings. It could also have been from the over-brashness of youth- overdoing the bench presses, striking the wall bags, stuff like that. Ah..the benefit of hindsight!
I remember a fellow patient at the acupuncture clinic who had such a bad case of frozen shoulder that he was unable to lift his arm let alone carry anything. Poor fellow.
Experts agree that regular and correct exercise help to keep our body lithe, supple and strong. But also we have to bear in mind that it is so easy to injure ourself, especially for those of us who are not that junior anymore.

There are plenty of reasons why you should listen to your mum – because mums always think they’re right, and because mums always want nothing but the best for their children. The second reason is good enough for us to listen to our mums, agree? But of course, these days we all think we know better than our mums, don’t we?
But for those of you who never listened to your mum’s naggings on why you must finish your veges, you should now take notice and listen to her. We all know vegetables are a must in a balanced diet to provide the fiber and vitamins our bodies need. If you don’t know better, vegetables do more than that for our health.
Different kinds of vegetables are needed in our diet, preferably vegetables made up of all sorts of colours, green, orange, red and yellow. Well purple for aubergine too if you’d like!
On a more serious note, below are some of the important nutrients that we need and they can be obtained simply by eating different types of vegetables.
1. Fiber – One of the main benefits of a high fiber diet includes decreased risk of coronary artery disease.
Excellent vegetable sources for fiber: navy beans, kidney beans, black beans, pinto beans, lima beans, white beans, soybeans, split peas, chick peas, black eyed peas, lentils, artichokes.

Babies cry when they are hungry and once they are fed and have had enough they stop. As they grow up, they are exposed to unhealthy fast food diets blasting on TV screens. “bribery’ food (or reward food), etc, many of them unlearn this natural balanced way of eating and begin to overeat.
There are ways to curb eating over eating. Simple yet effective.
Eat slowly. Remember all those familiar naggings and reminders from our grandparents and parents of “eat slowly, chew your food,” “chew thoroughly before swallowing”? These were all aimed at slowing us down when we eat. Research has shown it takes 12 or more minutes for food satisfaction signals to reach the brain of a thin person, but 20 or more minutes for an obese person. Eating slowly ensures that these important messages have time to reach the brain
Be aware. Be mindful about the whole eating process. When you are eating while rushing through some documents or doing computer work or even driving (when you are hurried or distracted), the food you eat will not register well with your brain. Give your meal the full attention and notice when you have had enough.
Use a smaller plate. The smaller the plate, the smaller the portion.
Choose your food wisely. Steer way from foods that give you loads of calories for very little volume. Go for a high fiber, protein meal.
