Our hair, very much like our skin, needs good nutrition, proper rest and a wholesome lifestyle to give us the “hair that comes alive” look with good luster and shine. Though many consider hair as technically dead, they are actually very much alive. Hair is said to be an extension of the outer layer of our skin, the epidermis. Hair follicles absorb nutrients and amino acids from the blood flow that nourishes our scalp. When old cells die, they form a hard protein called keratin. Eventually old hair falls off and new ones grow. By age thirty, the cycle of shedding and producing new hair is drastically reduced. Therefore, it is very important for us to take care of our crowning glory.
Apart from looking into our diet and proper lifestyle, good hair care products are equally important. Commercial shampoos, which do not come cheap, can be harsh to our hair as most of them are chemical and alcohol-laden. At a fraction of the cost, we can use natural ingredients such as vinegar, herbs, beer and eggs (to name a few) for better nourishment and cleansing effect.
Try the following shampoo
Sweet Parsley Shampoo: parsley is a cleanser and is soothing to your scalp. It keeps your scalp nourished and healthy. Safflower oil on the other hand is an excellent conditioner and helps to lock in moisture to prevent hair from drying out and breaking.
Ingredients :
1 handful fresh parsley or 2 teaspoon dried parsley (dried parsley available from supermarket)
10 tablespoon pure soap flakes or ½ cup non-perfumed liquid soap for sensitive skin
¾ cup water
½ teaspoon safflower oil
Bring water to boil. Put parsley into mixing bowl and pour the boiled water into it. Allow it to sit for about fifteen minutes. Strain this mixture into another bowl. Add soap flakes or liquid soap. Mix in the safflower oil. Allow the mixture to cool and thicken before pouring into clean plastic bottle. Store it in a cool place. Do not let it sit in direct sunlight. Make small portions to ensure freshness in the product.

This is a good one. I click thru to your other one on dandruff shampoo and learnt that salicylic acid in aspirin is used in dandruff treatment. Thanks!
Hi Josh,
