Many people have heard of or even visited a tarot card reader, an astrologer, a palmist but how about a “tasseographalogist” (huh! what a mouthful – I assume that’s what they are called as tea leaves reading is known as tasseography).
As with tarot cards and other forms of divination, your intuition and an open mind will help in tasseography. Everything is open to interpretation. Getting an accurate reading requires that you and the person you are reading for (the querent) believe in the power of divination. Doubt clouds judgement and shifts positive energies to negative energies.
So let us get started. You will need
1) A teapot without strainer to brew your tea
2) A mid-sized teacup, preferably white and without patterns to make sure you can see the formation of the tea leaves clearly.
3) A white saucer that matches the tea cup
4) And of course tea leaves. Good tea leaves for divination must be small and loose-leaf
How To
1) Put into teapot desired amount of tea leaves
2) Pour hot boiling water into teapot, place cover. Allow to sit for 5-7 minutes
3) Pour tea into cup. Allow the leaves to sink to the bottom
4) As the querent drinks the tea, concentrate on a specific question
5) Try not to talk during this focus time.
6) Sip the tea slowly – relax and enjoy the moment
7) When there is only a drop of tea left in the cup, it’s time to begin
Ask the querent to hold the cup by the handle in the left hand if querent is right handed.
9) Think about the question again.
10) Swirl the teacup in clockwise motion a couple of times
11) Then carefully and quickly turn the teacup upside down onto the saucer
12) Slowly turn the teacup back over. There should be no drops of water left in the cup, only clumps of tea leaves
The reading begins :
1) Have the handle of the teacup near to the body of the reader
2) Start reading from the handle in clockwise direction.
3) The handle and the zone near it represent your home life, family and people close to you
4) Divide the cup into 3 sections – the rim (uppermost part of the cup), the middle and the bottom.
Symbols on the rim – represent things happening close to present
Symbols in mid cup – represent not-too-distant future; within a month frame
Symbols at bottom – Distant future; about 3-6 months frame
Just as in dream analysis, tea leaves reading largely depends on the reader’s interpretation of symbols. Look at all the symbols, shapes and forms and see what comes to mind as a general first impression. Trust your intution. Over time and practice you will understand the subtleties and nuances of the art of reading tea leaves.
